Why is Recycling so important? When we use or consume more, we increase the demand on production. When we produce more, we exhaust more natural resources, and in turn we create more byproducts and waste - which in turn has a negative effect on the air, energy, water and our climate. As consumers we need to reduce our dependancy on natural resources, produce less by products, and waste, and the first step to doing that is by Recycling. We would like everyone to also Reduce and Reuse, but given our nation's consumption habits, it's easier to put Recycling in our daily routines first - and it's a good start to living a more Green lifestyle, and having a positive impact on our environment. Many of us turned to being more "Green" or at least became more aware as rise in oil prices hit us in our pockets, but it really needs to be a lifestyle change. Oil is a natural resource that we use to produce or facillitate the things we need in our daily lives. Many of us fail to understand that, our dependence on oil is directly related to how much we consume (and don't Recycle, Reduce or Reuse); we simply blame our high gas prices on our policies, politics and government, as well as oil companies, but in reality, it's how we consume that fuel these prices, and we are the ones to blame in the end. Blaming others for our climate crisis or the high cost of gas and food is like blaming McDonald's for our healthcare or obesity problems. We can wait until we're forced to act or keep thinking there's going to be a magic bullet solutions to our problems, or we can make small changes in our lives now to help ourselves.
